I am Madhan Kumar from C. Abdul Hakeem College Of Engg, & Tech at Vellore, I'm belongs to Computer science stream. We had HCL at VIT campus for off-campus recruitment.
And I was selected in HCL. I am sharing my experiance here and all the best for your turn. Thanks to "jwjobs.net team".
They conducted 2 rounds.
1. Online written test conducted by AMCAT at vit.
2. Second round I was explained below.
First they conducted online test which consist of four section
1. Quantitative aptitude ( 25 questions-35 mins)
2. Reasoning (24 questions-35 mins)
3. General english (20 questions-25 mins)
4. Basic of C, C++ (maximum only pseudocodes) and system s\w (25 questions -35 mins)
First and second section was standard, it is not very easy and also no one could call it is tough.
1. Quantative aptitude are generally from R.S. Aggarwal, from section like logarithm, probability, permutation & combination, time and work, surd & indices, problem on ages, problem on train, percentage. This are the topics that you have to be prepared well. Others just you go through once.
Time time time is very very very important here don't lose any questions because they are simple if you workout (direct answer).
2. Reasoning was also from R.S. Aggarwal, from section like blood relation, arrangement, rank, completion of series etc.
3. In my opinion english was most tough among all section. For this refer GRE by Baron.
Here you have to maintain the time because you will involved very much for finding the correct option like comprehension questions, my best advice is, For compr. questions you first read the questions asked and pick any related word from that if there, and search that in the paragraphs surely you will find something and you will get the answer only if you are furious in time.
4. Basic C, C++ and system s\w was in this section which are very easy. Here most of the questions are pseudo codes and they are asking the o/p and "if which statement of program is eliminated the program will become efficient like that the questions will arise dont get tensed, this is really very easy and simple, don't think too much, manage the time.
There was no negative marking but there was sectional cutoff. For each section you have to secure the cut off. 1160 students appeared for round 1 and 340 were shortlisted for round 2.
By God's grace my name was there. Don't think that the students are lucked so that they are selected. My concept is "No pain, No gain". You have to work more than year capability, and remaining only by the god.
Second round:
And I come to 2nd round conducted after three days on 4th January. There is enough time to prepare for the technical + HR round for us. But I prepared for only HR. Just how to talk and about HCL. Then I touched the technical not as much prepared.
On the next day we are asked to assemble on 8 am but HR arrived at 10.00 am. He was very nice. We are eagerly expecting for further proceedings but simply he delivered glad by glad newses, that is " No Technical and no HR". We are stunned and he told that "Only group discussion if you are well in communication you will be selected or else we are not responsible".
It is fully in your hands. ( Vaayiruntha Pizhaichikalam). I was scare because mostly GD is for elimination but we did. (me and my friend).
I get through the panel1 consisting 10 members 5 are from andhra's remaining TN. And all are well fluenced. totally 1 hour they spend for my group.
Topic: Will India defeat China in future years. First half I was calm just barbering. On second half I realized my position because I was centred and begin to rocks and get the current affairs mostly I talked on the 2nd half and got the attention of HR. And we are leaved at 1.30 pm. Even though I done well I was not satisfied due to 1st half. "you have to talk" it is the goal you must focus on GD.
Results are annouced at 8.30 pm (at night). Among 340 they selected 185.
BY Gods grace I was selected and belongs to proudly saying "HCL".
Thank you! meet you in HCL campus. Bye & All the best
